Mascha Gugganig is a PhD candidate in Anthropology at the University of British Columbia and a fellow on the STS Program at Harvard University. Her submission to the Visual Essay Competition was called Making Dust come to Matter: The Scaffolding of Academia and is based on a film Mascha made in 2011called hidden practices (it can be viewed here). In her own words,
This visual essay explores the infrastructural setting of academia and contemplates the ways it shapes a particular understanding of capacity building that scaffolds successful scholarship.
